We Leave Our Mark (Sold)
Pastel on Board (hand-applied kaolin clay ground textured with fine marble dust granules), 22 H x 26 W in
Although inspired by the white helmets in Aleppo, this work contrasts the different ways people are leaving their mark in the world. While some wield hatred and toil for power, destroying everything in their way to pitch their flag in the rubble, brave souls project love, connect with each other, and save humanity.
The painting shows a world ruled by men that are dominated by an insatiable and futile ego. They stamp their names in the rubble, as a dog also marks its territory on a wall near an innocent child buried in the debris. Humanity still prevails. An immense act of love and courage unfolds center stage, lighting the darkness, and contrasting the scale of each act.
